SWOT of Task force mechanism

Strengths

1. One fourth of all TB patients are diagnosed in medical colleges

2. Difficult to diagnose cases like extra pulmonary TB, paediatric TB are diagnosed in medical colleges

3. Medical colleges often manage patients with DRTB

4. Medical colleges are home to technical experts for clinical services of the program

Weaknesses

1. Generally, departments other than the Chest Department suffer from under notification

2. Historically there have been low results from research mechanisms in place.

3. There is limited contribution to bring private partnerships on board.

Opportunity

1. Taskforce mechanisms extend beyond the scope of medical colleges

2. The task force mechanism is the key to establishing surveillance in medical colleges 

3. Medical colleges also are crucial to initiating public health measures

4. Medical colleges can be involved in the capacity building of the health system

Threat

1. There is limited involvement of other departments 

2. There is frequent management or coordination issues at local or state level

3. Low availability of funds.
